More illustrations

I'm still searching my files for more storyboard frames, but no luck, I may be finished posting that kind of material. Here are a couple of illustrations from my book Art & Illustration Techniques.

This is an assignment from one of my New York clients. I sent the above sketch to my client for approval, the art directors often ask for a color sketch before I proceed with the finished art.

Here is the final acrylic illustration which includes all of the changes that the art director requested.

I'm not sure who this illustration was done for, probably was an assignment from Transcontinental Travel Bureau. This art was done using markers as well as acrylic paint.

My Art & Illustration Techniques book has many more examples, it was published in 1979, but used copies are still available through Amazon and used book dealers on the internet. The cover art was done using markers.

Great color work here Harry. If you had the time maybe you could do a couple of storyboard walk throughs ie designing frames, overlaying markers etc.I recently bought a copy of your excellent markers book, but I don't think it covered figure work or storyboards.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comments. I pretty much have run out of storyboard examples to show (still looking), so maybe I will work up a couple of "How to...." storyboard or rendering hints posts.

Hi Harry, I remember this book well! I didn't know I'd be a storyboard guy at the time, thanks for the great tips. I don't use markers any more, but my computer coloring still has that marker look.

Hi Chris,
I quit doing storyboards a few years ago because of the brutal deadlines. I also tried doing frames on the computer, it seemed to take me twice as long as the good old markers. I suppose I eventually would have gotten used to rendering on the computer. I really enjoy your blog, keep up the great work !.
