A fund raiser is coming up soon
The Harbor Country Public Arts Initiative has chosen one of my sculptures to be constructed and erected in Sawyer, Michigan at the Red Arrow Highway and Sawyer Road. The piece will be 18 feet tall and will be painted, welded steel. The Craig Smith Gallery will be having a benefit soon to raise funds for the construction of the sculpture.

More sketches and frames
A few frames that I found including underlay sketches. They were done for one of my New York clients, I don't remember the ad agency, art director of product. These were again all rendered using markers on layout paper and were 5 x 7" in size.

I do believe that there were several more frames, but these are all that could be located in my files.

This may have been a sketch for a magazine ad, again I'm not sure. The size was large, about 8 x 10", so it wasn't part of the storyboard group. That looks like an air conditioner crashing through the background. I'll soon ne running out of storyboard material to post, hoping to find more in my files. I have some very tightly rendered frames for my next few posts and then a very complex animatic. I used to render many animatics, which are frames that have moving parts, which were filmed and better simulated the actual TV commercial. These usually took me a week or ten days to complete, most were very complicated.

Storyboards based on a movie
Storyboard artists often get oddball assignments like the one posted here. I had to do frames that were based on the film THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER which had Sean Connery in the lead roll. It was actually a fun assignment, I don't recall where I found reference material to use, I probably watched the actual film a couple of times. The film came out in 1990 and these frames were probably done shortly after. They were 5x7" in size and rendered with markers on layout paper. It was done for one of my New York clients, I don't remember the ad agency or client.

Detailed storyboards
These are some of the first storyboard frames that I did when I moved to New York in 1983 after living and working in Paris, France for several years. They were done for Ogilvy & Mather which became one of my best clients. When I called the agency to make my first appointment to show my samples, the art director knew who I was, he told me that he had some of my books on his bookshelf.

These renderings were done with markers and a few tones added with an airbrush on high quality layout paper.
