Marker book

This book on rendering with markers is the first of many I have written for Watson Guptill Publications. It is still available at used book stores, check Amazon.com.

Book734

Below is one of the many demos from the book, this one shows markers being used on rice paper. There are many step-by-step demonstrations that show markers being used on various paper surfaces.

This is one of my favorites from the book Harry, it looks like a grand 19th Century oil painting!

Can you explain you're thinking in regard to glazing for color harmony? how you figure out color schemes when you're working at 90mph for a tight deadline-I often end up with colors popping in all the wrong places! Also I notice you often lay down an undertone color that peeps through the top layer creating variation.

Sorry to ask so many questions but you really seem to have figured out this color stuff so well Thanks,Steve.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comments. I don't have a theory or plan when working in color, it seems to be more of an instinctive thing. I do generally lay down an undertone to start with which gives me a basis for the finished piece, whether it's a painting or marker sketch. It's difficult to describe as it's not really thought out as I work and not really a concept or any kind of color system.
