A new comic book cover parody

Just having a bit of fun doing a few of my comic book cover parodies and taking a break from all of the paintings that I've been doing lately.

Another comic book cover parody

For this parody I used an old character, Monsterman, that I developed in the 1970's. He was created as part of a How To Draw Monsters book for kids that was sold through ads that I ran in comic books. The book was not a big seller, I usually just made enough to pay for the ads. But it was a fun project and it started me on my venture of writing several instructional art books for Watson- Guptill Publishing. The books are now out of print, but can be found in used book stores as well as on the internet in sites such as Amazon.com. One of my books, Pen and Pencil Drawing Techniques, has been reprinted by Dover Publications and is still available.

Another Fine Arts Comics parody

I had a little free time yesterday and decided to create another comic book cover parody. I used a drawing that was previously used on another cover. I'll probably be doing a few more of these in the next few weeks, it's a nice break between all of the paintings that I've been working on.

A new comic book cover parody

I haven't had much luck in trying to get a book publisher interested in these comic book cover parodies, I may self publish them. These covers are all created on the computer.

Another painting finished

Another painting in my new series titled "Thoughts". It is acrylic on canvas and measures 24 x 30".

New painting under way

Here's the first sketch that I created on the computer for my new painting "Thoughts". I decided to change the background color and will use this image as a basis for the final painting which will be acrylic on a 24 x 30" canvas. I will change some of the shapes and colors as I progress. At this stage I am not quite one third finished. My cats are always present when I am working, they seem to enjoy being around, but are usually sleeping. Tiff, Jpeg and Laura are great cats and are a lot of fun as well.
