Over the years I have always been involved with graphic design projects as well as illustration. I actually started out as a graphic designer, so it was my entry into the commercial art business. I was working on a graphic design promotional brochure and developed these typographic designs during the process.

These are some of the traits that many successful commercial and fine artists possess. Another quality is the ability to not get too discouraged by criticism, some art critics and art directors can be brutal. Actually, an artist must be his or her own worst critic as art is a never ending growing and learning experience.

My opening at Pure Reign Lifestyle Center

I had an opening reception for my new paintings and sculpture at the Pure Reign Lifestyle center in Oak Park, Illinois last Saturday. My gallery owner, Craig Smith hung the show and did a great job. The space has recently been renovated and is really very nice. I met a few interesting people as well as their great staff, it was a fun evening. If you are near the area, check it out.

More of my promotional material

Promoting yourself as an artist is very important both in the commercial and fine art fields. I recently sent out several promotion brochures to a book publisher and an art gallery. I presented the publisher with brochures that show many of my previous books and illustrations as well as three new book ideas. The art gallery was given several brochures showing a lot of my paintings done through the years. I'm hoping for good reactions here, but you never know, perhaps my work will not interest them.
